Caught in the Rain is a solo TTRPG where the player delves into a mystery that must be solved before the weight of it is too heavy and the house of cards comes crashing down. The thing we love about our solo mystery RPG is that the truth is hidden until the very end, offering a satisfying player experience without the company of another player.

How do you play a mystery with Caught in the Rain?

The mystery mechanic is the heart of Caught in the Rain, here's how it works:

Step 1

Separate a deck of cards into two piles - the face cards (the truth deck), and everything else (the clue deck).

Step 2

Shuffle the face cards and remove 3 without peeking. These 3 cards represent the narrative answer to the mystery.

Step 3

As you play, you'll gather clues represented by cards drawn from the clue deck. When you draw a clue, you establish what you find in the narrative. a fingerprint? An email conversation?

You can then use those gathered clues to establish truths about the mystery, revealing cards from the truth deck and narrowing down the 3 initially removed cards.

Doing this lets you assert a fact you've uncovered - perhaps the fingerprint belonged to the security guard at the crime scene, perhaps the email conversation implicates the CEO as the primary suspect...
